Reema Sabharwal, 23 years old, a liver transplant patient share her experience before and after transplant.

Hi friends! Its me Reema Sabharwal; 23 years old , a liver transplant patient. I am here to share my experience before and after transplant . There comes a darastic change in life after the surgery. Now, I feel like I am living a new life in a new world.
I remember it was 3rd December 2013, when I was admitted in Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS) with Auto Immune Disease . At that time I was pale yellow , with loss of apettite, dark in colour, with high temperature, very weak and almost at my last stage. When I came to this hospital I was treated for almost a month. All my workups were done. Doctors tried all hard and fast rules to make me stable by giving steroids but they all were not at all effective to my body.

At last, we had a word with Dr. Viniyendra Pamecha and his surgery team. They told us that the last and final option is liver transplant. For this ; they told we require a fit donor for the recipeint(patient). Listening to all this my mother shattered for a while, but my kind doctors consoled her and satisfied her emotional feelings by telling and explaining her that there is nothing to worry for . The donor will be fine in almost a month while the patient will be in good of her health within 3 months.

Lastly, my mother made up her mind , and my brother was donor for me. Going through all this , my brother ‘s workup were done and at 27th December 2013; I was given discharged on doctor’s advice that you will catch infection staying here from other patients , so its better you go home . We will give you call a day before the surgery.

It was my good luck or you can say it was God’s gift to me and my family’s blessings that doctor gave a call and called us at hospital . They informed us that we got a foreign body(cadaveric ) liver. The liver which has to be grafted was liver of a 75 years old lady. ‘May God give peace to her soul’…… Listening to all this it was like “ a cherry on the cake “ for me . That moment was the most happiest and unforgettable moment of my life as my brother was going to sacrifice a lot for me. I was happy not only for myself but at the same time I was more happier for my brother . I am seriously very thankful to God Almighty for this act of kindness.

I was then admitted on 31st December 2013, and on 1st January 2014 , at 9.50 am I was taken to operation theatre for surgery. My operation last for almost 12 hrs . I was then shifted to I.C.U. for 14 days and for next 8 days I was in Deluxe room. During these days I had gone through bad as well as good times. But it’s a saying na; that ” when good days come; one forget its past bad days”, that what exactly happened with me also.

It was then and now ; I am perfectly fine and in pink of my health. I have become more fairer in complexion , cute and smart. All this credit goes to my surgery team and last but not the least my mother who was there in my every thick and thin.
Dr. Pamecha I love you a tonnnn…. You are saviour of so many lives. I genuinely respect you sir from bottom of my heart. It feels like there is some blood relation between us. You gave me a new life in which I can spend my rest of life by filling it with beautiful colours. I am healthy , fit and fine with God’s blessings and enjoying my life to the fullest……….
